    This was a pretty good adaptation of the play It felt mostly accurate and I liked when they would incorporate similar or the same lines from the play But the pacing was off I didn t love how much it focused on Riff in the beginning, especially because Tony didn t get introduced until nearly halfway through and he s a pretty major character Then after the first act drags on and on, th

    I understand that this book was a product of the time I also understand that the musical glosses over what the gangs in the show do that make them gangs , and that maybe it is only fair to elaborate on their activities when it s not being represented by dance.That being said, I found it shocking that the narrative expects us to sympathize with Riff and by extension Tony, who we re told
